If we are going to be great citizens of the Kingdom we must be complete. Being set in life requires us not to be lacking in any area. Non-lack does not mean having more than enough but a sufficiency to sustain at any given moment even spiritually. Unbeknownst to others, some walk daily spiritually deficient. For whatever reason we fail to develop the spiritual wellness needed to pursue God’s best for our inner growth. Sadly we wait until “a word” comes around via friends, family or email instead of seeking it daily and diligently for ourselves. This is spiritual welfare.
This divine deficiency is due to the lack of personal works. Cultivating good spiritual health is vital for daily living. The prayer, devotional time, morning inspirational may be the internal deposit needed to conquer that day’s trouble. Gorging ourselves to spiritual fullness to later ration its nutrients in times of need is not healthy. One situation or unexpected occurrence can deplete that supply and leave us spiritually broke. Frequent soul deposits are required to prosper from within. Achieving this requires us to work! Constant communion with God: prayer, Bible study, devotional time, Sunday morning worship can support this progress. Never become dependent on others supplying our needs, go to the supplier Himself. Salvation, prayer, reading the Word is all free. This prosperity costs us nothing but time and effort. Break the cycle of spiritual welfare. Let’s get to work on our spirit!
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26 (NKJV)
