Each day when we awake we are given many things. Atop a silver platter for us are life, 24 hours, grace, mercy and unfortunately a healthy helping of hindrances. Hindrances are things that we didn’t quite expect on that day’s journey. Have you ever noticed that when you are about business is when the hindrance arrives. It can occur at the oddest of times. Ever decided that today you are going to get some work done, that’s when everyone wants to stop by, call or take you out to lunch? Have you ever been deep in prayer time and the phone rings, someone knocks on the door or calls your name? Ever decided you were going to commit to cleaning up your credit/finances that’s when you lose your job, the car breaks down or another bill arrives? You have just been hindered. At that moment we have to decide what we are going to do. Are we going to allow the hindrance to impede the work at hand? Do we stop to sit in the pity puddle of the occurrence and delay the mission? Or do we more forward allowing it not to phase us?
We have to learn not to allow our daily hindrances to become permanent addendums of our lives. Life is going to have its issues but the truth of the matter always is how we choose to deal with them. These "little things" are just futile attempts to veer us off His path. At that moment we should begin to not only seek God but find Him all the more. That not only upsets the enemy but also impresses God. Pressing on to Him and the greater work He has planned for us should remain our primary goal. We cannot allow ourselves to be sidetracked by the multiple pitfalls that the enemy may try and throw our way. Life is all about progress, advance and moving forward but filled with hindrances along the way. And we must move on. Not for the sake of the enemy but for the sake of God!
"Commit your work to the LORD, and then your plans will succeed." Proverbs 16:3 (NLT)
Do This… When hindrances occur, simply say, "Excuse me." Excuse me alerts the enemy that yes you have acknowledged its presence but you cannot stay. You have some place to go!
