"So do not be like them; for your Father KNOWS what you NEED before YOU ask Him."- Matthew 6:8
I wish I had a new car. Lord, if you would only bless me with that special someone, I know that would be all I need. If I only could get that house I saw. How many times have we asked and prayed similar prayers like this? Some of us do it every single day of our lives. But would that be what we need? Remember, as a child when you thought you would just die if your mom or dad wouldn't get you that toy you wanted so badly. (Easy-Bake Oven, Transformers, Cabbage Patch Kids, The GI Joe with the Kung-Fu grip) Then finally when you got it! You played with for a little while but then it was just like all the rest. It began to sit inside the toy box or closet keeping company all the other things you wanted.
Just be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. But when you get it, it may not be what you thought it would be. A new car; You still have to pay a car note, it still can break down, and it still can be wrecked like all the rest. You finally got that special someone you wanted. But after a minute or two you found out they still have all the issues and games like everyone else, no matter how the outside is wrapped. Lastly, you got that new house you wanted so badly so you could get out of that apartment. Cool, but that house still has to be maintained. There's grass to be cut, more space means more floors to sweep, mop, and vacuum and if something breaks you have to pay to get it fixed. The days of calling the maintenance man are over.
Keep This In Mind: A blessing may not always be meant to bless you but to teach you a lesson. Everything you think you want may not be all that it's cracked up to be.
